Rescue Me ID: 16-10-07-00394Stage (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

'Actually, I've been on hold for a while, because I was extremely underweight and ill. My foster mom has poured her heart (and lots of treats and food) into me, and now I'm a healthy 30 pounds! Check out my sleek physique! A handsome 1 year old black lab mix, I was terrified of everyone (and everything) when I arrived. Luckily, I have a super patient foster mom who has helped me overcome some of my STAGEfright (get it?). I've spent time at other fosters' homes with other doggies and other kitties. I even (almost) enjoyed a car ride! I met two new people just today and was able to snuggle! I'm telling you, these 'hoomans' have made a new ... (Read More)man'| er'| dog out of me!' Stage is still nervous around new people and situations, and he will require patience from his adopters to continue to help him build confidence. He would likely do well having another dog in the home with him. Stage's initial vet visit resulted in a positive heartworm test. He is undergoing treatment and will be neutered once he tests negative. The treatment and neuter are included in his adoption fee. Stage is also diagnosed with diabetes insipidus (DI) - an incurable condition that causes intense thirst/urine output. He is medicated for it and it does not require any special diet. A doggie door may be helpful, but he's housetrained, if not. The medication cost is about $30/month. (Less)

Black and Tan Coonhound    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Coonie Choir.......these sweet little huntresses certainly have hound songs to serenade their new families when they finally find their forever homes. They were born to two pure bred Black and Tan Coonhound mothers (one with the rare liver gene) that were abandoned to fend for themselves in rural Suffolk. From those humble beginnings, these precious girls have risen to stardom and are ready to share the songs of their people to all within earshot. The softest velvety ears don't work very well when their noses hit the ground, so proper training will ensure their safety off leash. Since these southern belles were born from generations of ... (Read More)hunting stock, they will have a strong prey drive that is the envy of beagles. Resident cats or any other critter may be too enticing to ignore, and escape is found at the top of the closest tree, their music can be heard from space. Courtesy of your neighbors is encouraged as not everyone appreciates the houndsong their fosters have grown to love. Adoption fee of $350 includes spay or neuter surgery between 4 and 6 months. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-03-00197Maya (female)

Great Dane    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maya is a sweet female Dane about 3 years old. She has had her tail docked due to a case of 'happy tail' that required amputation. She's great with kids and cat friendly. Maya walks great on a lead, however, she does not like other dogs so she will charge them (typically smaller dogs). We have been working with a trainer on behavior modification, and her new family will need to continue our work. Maya's ideal home is one where the family is large breed savvy. You should have a fenced yard and Maya should be the only dog, although we will consider a meet and greet with another large or giant breed dog that is not dominant.
